Title: Terahertz and sub-millimeter imaging for defense and security applications
Abstract: The detection and identification of concealed weapons and contraband objects on persons is a requirement for many security and defense missions.
In order to minimize the risk to security personnel and to allow rapid scanning of
people in crowds, stand-off terahertz and sub-millimeter wave imaging devices are
being developed. This talk will give a brief overview of the benefits of using terahertz
or sub-millimeter wave imaging, the physics involved, and existing and emerging imaging
technologies in this region of the electromagnetic spectrum.
