Abstract:

A copper alloy stronger than steel, another copper alloy softer than lead (alloys quite unknown to modern metallurgy), a fire retardant spray from purely vegetable sources: these are among the materials which have been prepared by a top-notch scientist in India, Dr. Prabhu, following the recipe from an ancient Sanskrit text. Come and listen to the amazing story of the discovery of the text and of Dr. Prabhu’s struggle of over a quarter century in deciphering the text (which is actually a text about Aeronautics!) Clearly an advanced materials technology existed in ancient India. Current accounts of the history of science and technology need to be revised.
