Dr. Gene Pearson Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

Gene Pearson honored with lifetime achievement award

Professor Gene Pearson, was recently honored by the Tennessee chapter of the American Planning Association with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his service to the community, the planning profession, and the university.

Gene played a pivotal role in the creation of the Graduate Program in City and Regional Planning at the University of Memphis over thirty years ago and has served as Director of the program for the past fourteen years. Gene will retire as Director this spring, but will remain a key asset to the Division of City & Regional Planning as a part-time faculty member.

Award-Winning Planning at the University of Memphis

The "Environmental Systems Enhancement Plan for the Mississippi River Corridor in Tennessee" was named one of three winning finalists for the University Economic Development Association's Award of Excellence in Community Development. The plan was prepared by planning faculty and researchers with the Division's Regional Economic Development Center.
