PLAN 7302: Geographic Environmental Analysis (Summer 2012)

Description:
In the summer of 2012, a group of City & Regional Planning students and faculty participated
in a 10-day field experience in the Provence of Catania, Sicily. The program was sponsored by the Sicilian city of Zafferana Etnea, and supported by our partnership
with colleagues from the University of Catania.
Students observed ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and mitigate environmental
degradation in the Simeto Valley, and participated in a planning process to promote
multifunctional agriculture as a means of protecting a landscape and celebrating culture
and heritage in and around the City of Zafferana Etnea.
