Pursuant to new legislation, effective October 27, 2002, University of Memphis police
will be notified when an individual who is registered in Tennessee as a sex offender
enrolls as a student or begins work as a volunteer on the campus. The Tennessee Bureau
of Investigation (TBI) is responsible for notifying the University police. Registered
sex offenders have ten (10) days to notify TBI by completing a TBI Sexual Offender
Registration/Monitoring Form and having it delivered to TBI.
A log of registered sex offenders will be maintained in the dispatch office of Police
Services and will be available for viewing 24 hours a day, every day (weekends and
holidays included). The Police Services Dispatch office is located in the Zach Curlin
Parking Garage and can be reached at (901) 678-4357.
