Timeline

The Tennessee Board of Regents has begun the process of searching for a permanent president at the University of Memphis. The presidential search process will follow the basic outlines of all TBR searches (see presidential search FAQs), although every search is somewhat different.

Timeline:

November 2013 - The Tennessee Board of Regents announces the Search Advisory Committee membership and schedules its first meeting.

Dec. 4, 2013 - The campus holds an open forum to gather input about qualities to consider for the next president and answer questions about the search process.

Dec. 4, 2013 - The Search Advisory Committee meets for the first time in open session.

Dec. 12, 2013 - The criteria to be included in advertising for the president is approved. Ads are placed in national outlets, and the search firm begins recruiting applicants and accepting nominations for the position.

Feb. 3, 2014 - The Search Advisory Committee will meet in closed session to begin reviewing candidates' applications.

Feb. 19-20, 2014 - The Search Advisory Committee will meet in closed session to begin round-one interviews.

March 6, 2014 - The Search Advisory Committee meets in closed session to select the finalists chosen to visit campus.

March 17-21, 2014 - Finalists visit campus for second-round interviews with the Search Advisory Committee and to participate in campus forums. The finalists will meet with a variety of university constituent groups, including faculty and staff, students, alumni and the community. A series of campus forums will take place on the campus. A detailed schedule for each finalist will be posted here as soon as the schedules are available. Some campus forums will be streamed live via a link available here as well. The search committee's charge is to interview and identify the finalists for the position of president. Committee members will also participate in the campus meetings and gather feedback from constituents. Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor John Morgan will gather feedback from committee members and make the final selection for recommendation to the Board for approval within a few weeks after the campus visits.
