University of Memphis faculty, students, staff, alumni and community partners provided 602,904 hours of community service last year, exceeding the goal of 500,000 hours for the Year of Service initiative. The project earned $500,000 in scholarships for UofM students.

The announcement was made at a celebration today in the University Center on campus. "It speaks to the strong commitment the UofM has to the city of Memphis," said President M. David Rudd.
