Katherine Atkinson

Ms. Atkinson has served students at the University of Memphis since she arrived here in 1992. She is usually the very first point of contact for incoming students in the College, she works with them up until the time they graduate, and often stays in contact with them long afterwards. Letters of support from colleagues and students are effusive in their praise of her knowledge, her dedication, and above all her concern for those she serves as students and as individual persons. One colleague notes simply that 'Kathy likes people' and that it shows in everything she does. Students testify to the key role she plays in helping them believe that they can live up to the challenges of earning a degree in engineering and helping them develop strategies to accomplish their goals.
