President's Allen J. Hammond Memorial Award
Michelle Banks

Ms. Banks, who joined the U of M in 1986, has more than 25 years of experience in the higher education system in Tennessee. She previously held a similar administrative position and was a tenured faculty member at Tennessee Technological University.

A 1974 graduate of Fisk University, Ms. Banks earned her MFA degree from Washington State University in 1976. She has taken additional coursework at the U of M.

Ms. Banks is an active member of College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR), serving on the national board of directors for two years. She also has served on the Southern Region CUPA-HR board.

Ms. Banks has also taught at the University of Memphis. Through her years of teaching “introduction to art,” she has become a highly esteemed member of our teaching community.
