His students describe his teaching style as “thoughtful, energetic, and engaging.” He is equally talented at eliciting and answering questions. Both philosophy graduate and undergraduate students praise his teaching skills, dedication to scholarship, and most importantly, his commitment to having students learn the material at the highest academic level possible.

In 2007, just one year after earning his doctorate Debes published two articles on David Hume in the British Journal for the History of Philosophy.
