Alumni Association Distinguished Advising Award
Jack Grubaugh

Dr. Grubaugh has served as a professor and an academic advisor to over 100 undergraduate students in his 11 years at the University of Memphis. He is well-known across the college and the university for his active role as a mentor to undergraduate students in biology. Students testify not just to the sound academic advice he gives them and to the crucial role he plays for them in the choice of a career and in learning how to achieve their academic and professional goals, but also to the concern he shows for them as individuals.

One wrote for many when she noted, 'He was truly the best advisor I could ever ask for. He actually cares and makes an effort to touch each and every person’s life he comes in contact with. He goes the extra mile to learn each student’s name and makes time to get to understand what he can do to help each student pursue their dream.'
