Dr. Hayden has professional experience in television news as a writer, reporter,
and producer. His teaching areas are history, political journalism, and writing.
Professor Hayden is both an excellent teacher and mentor, says Richard Ranta, dean
of the College of Communication and Fine Arts. “He is ‘cutting edge,’ always seeking
the newest information and techniques to help students excel,” Ranta said. “Dr. Hayden
pushes students to reach their maximum potential, while always exhibiting a caring,
encouraging, and good-humored nature. His individual coaching approach and engaging
personality generate enthusiasm among his students.” Dr. Hayden has written several
papers and authored a book on media coverage of former President Bill Clinton. “That
kind of exposure is a big help in the success of our students,” states Dr. Grubaugh.
