Thomas W. Briggs Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award Margaret A. 'Peggy' Quinn
Quinn teaches fashion merchandising and supervises the senior project class for Family
and Consumer Science. “Under her leadership, the students have produced some amazing
projects,” writes Dr. David Arant, dean of the University College, in his nomination.
She coordinates off-campus teaching and learning sites, as well as industry field
trips to supplement instruction. “She is a popular, thoughtful teacher who shoulders
a heavy advising load for the unit, advising about 80 students,” Arant adds. Quinn
also demonstrates leadership in the ACAD program, an introduction to the University
for freshmen. She has an active scholarly agenda, with presentations at local, regional
and national conferences.
