Allen J. Hammond Presidential Service Award Noel Schwartz
Before retiring this past December, Noel Schwartz provided 34 years of service to
the University of Memphis. She served as a research associate, program coordinator,
director of registration and scheduling, and from 1994 through 2007, as the University’s
registrar. She is a past recipient of the Distinguished Administrator of the Year
Award and was nominated again for that award in last spring. Noel distinguished herself
in numerous ways during her tenure at the University of Memphis. Known as a tireless
manager who led by example, Noel’s commitment to students is well documented. Most
recently, Noel led the Student Team in its highly successful implementation of Spectrum.
This required leadership of cross functional/cultural areas and the development of
a new, highly cooperative approach to problem solving. Through her collaborations,
creativity and commitment, Noel helped our university move toward our goal of building
a digital campus that is fully integrated and, thus, more able to provide improved
service to our students. These are just a few of the reason why we honor her today.
Congratulations, Ms. Schwartz.
