Nominations are being accepted for the 2011-12 Thomas W. Briggs Foundation’s Excellence in Teaching awards. Two awards, in the amount of $7,500 each, will be presented at Faculty Convocation
this spring. The award was established by the Thomas W. Briggs Foundation and recognizes
outstanding educators for their positive impact on undergraduate teaching.

Nominees must be full-time faculty members at the University of Memphis and currently must be teaching undergraduate level courses. The nominee must have a demonstrated record of exceptional teaching
skills at the undergraduate level, especially in the last three years. Tenure is not

As requested by the Thomas W. Briggs Foundation, the selection committee will be comprised
of University of Memphis faculty, recent alumni and a representative of the Briggs
Foundation. The administration of the award is coordinated with the assistance of
the Office of the Vice Provost for Assessment, Institutional Research & Reporting.
The nomination deadline is Noon – Friday, February 10, 2012.
