Faculty Scholarship
The University Libraries with the support of the Friends of the Libraries sponsors
Faculty Scholarship Week in collaboration with Academic Affairs and Special Events.
During the period April 22 – April 28 faculty-authored material will be displayed
in the rotunda of the McWherter Library, and the material will be moved to the Rose
Theatre for display during Convocation ceremonies.
Twenty-second Annual Faculty Convocation
President Shirley Raines and Provost Ralph Faudree invite you to participate in the
Twenty-second Annual Faculty Convocation, Wednesday, April 29, 2009. This annual event honors outstanding faculty by granting the following awards:
- Alumni Association Distinguished Research Awards;
- Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Awards;
- Alumni Association Distinguished Advising Awards;
- Thomas W. Briggs Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award;
- Allen J. Hammond Presidential Service Award; and
- Williard R. Sparks Eminent Faculty Award.

Recession: Faculty will leave the Rose Theatre in reverse order following the Platform Party.
Reception There will be a reception in the Lobby of the Rose Theatre immediately following the
Convocation ceremony.
Regalia
Regalia Orders: Faculty members who wish to rent regalia for Faculty Convocation should contact the
Commencement Office, 678-5547 or email vmuldrow@memphis.edu to place orders for regalia. If you plan to use the regalia for Commencement on May
9, 2009, there will be only one charge for both occasions. The deadline for placing regalia orders is Friday, March 27, 2009.
Regalia pick up: Regalia for Faculty Convocation will be available for pick-up in the Commencement
Office, 500 Wilder Tower Monday, April 27, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday, April 28, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.;
and Wednesday, April 29, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Regalia Return: Regalia for the platform party (award winners, announcers and presenters) will be
returned to the Green Room, Rose Theatre. Faculty participating in Convocation only will return regalia to the Commencement Office, 500 Wilder Tower. Faculty participating
in Convocation and Commencement will return regalia on the Ground Level, FedEx Forum
