Title VI prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin
in programs that receive Federal financial assistance. A few years ago, the State
of Tennessee strengthened the statewide compliance with this law.
Under this provision, all State employees shall be trained on the provisions of Title
VI annually. While I would like to encourage all faculty and staff to participate
in this training, per TBR directives, the training is mandatory for the following persons:
- Deans/Department Heads/Chairs
- Supervisors
- AA/EEO/Title VI Coordinators
- HR Directors and their Staff
- All TBR Central Office employees
- New employees at any institution or the Central Office
- All campus federal program administrators.
University employees may go to http://www.tbr.edu/human_resources/training/titlevitraining/pass.asp and enter the password “titlesix” (all lowercase, no quotes).
This link, along with an explanation about the training and directions for completing
the qui, have been added to the Affirmative Action Tutorials and On-Line Training
webpage. Go to http://www.memphis.edu/affirmact/training.htm for additional information.
If you have any questions concerning this training, please contact the Affirmative
Action Office at 678-2713.
