While an undergraduate major in psychology is highly desirable for admission to this
program, outstanding students with majors or experience in other fields are also encouraged
to apply. Only students applying for full-time status are accepted into this program.
Currently, the Experimental Program accepts approximately 6 to 10 students for admission
each Fall. The main factors that are considered are:
- academic performance
- GRE scores
- research experience
In assessing academic performance, primary consideration is given to the undergraduate
grade point average. Applicants having graduate coursework are still judged principally
by their undergraduate performance. In evaluating GRE scores, a minimum total aptitude
score of 1100 is ordinarily required. The faculty also looks for evidence of promise
in research and carefully reviews the required personal statement and letters of recommendation,
with a special emphasis on research experience.
