The primary responsibility of the treasurer of the Graduate Student Coordinating Committee
(GSCC) is to oversee the distribution of departmental funds for student travel. The
chair of the Department of Psychology sets the budget for these awards annually. This
year, Dr. Andrasik has pledged a generous $20,000 for student travel. The following
eligibility criteria apply:
- You must be enrolled as a full-time student in one of the Department of Psychology's
graduate programs.
- You must be making an academic presentation at the proposed meeting.
- You must provide proof of effort to secure additional funding support for the proposed
travel (e.g., a photocopy of an application for one of the other awards listed on
this page).
- You are eligible to receive only one award per term.
All travel fund applications are given an overall score based on the information provided
by the applicant. In turn, a formula is used to determine the award amount as based
on the score and the budget for the term. Award amounts are confidential. You do not
have to share your award amount with other students. Note, however, that if you do,
your award amount may differ from other students attending the same or other conferences.
This is due to differences among applicants in terms of year of study, type of presentation,
level of authorship, etc.
If you would like to apply for GSCC travel funds, please complete the GSCC travel
funds application. In order to submit your request, please print a copy, fill it out,
and place it in the mailroom (203) under the slot labeled 'GSCC'.

Student Government Association Travel Funding
The Student Government Association (SGA) is an additional source of potential funding
for student travel to professional conferences. Students can receive a maximum of
one such award per fiscal year. See the SGA Web page for additional guidelines at
http://www.memphis.edu/sga/travel.php.
Deadlines are not posted other than that there shall be no retroactive funding. Note
that the SGA does not meet in the summer. Thus, if you plan on traveling in the summer,
be sure to submit your application the preceding spring semester.
Donovan Travel Enrichment Funds
A limited number of student travel awards are made available each term through the
College of Arts and Sciences. One advantage of this type of award is that you are
not required to be making an academic presentation at the proposed meeting to be eligible
for an award. Note that deadlines for this type of award fall one semester prior to
the proposed travel. For more information on Donovan Travel Enrichment Funds visit:
