The I-O concentration in Psychology at The U of M is dedicated to the intensive training
of students in the theories and methodologies of Industrial and Organizational Psychology
to prepare them for careers in both academic and applied settings. We accomplish this
goal by admitting a small, but diverse group of high-quality students, involving them
throughout their graduate education in course work in psychology and business, engaging
in continuous research activities, disseminating this research at national conferences,
and publishing in top-tier journals. Overall, students are expected to be active contributors
to the broader I/O community. Following the completion of primary coursework and proposal
of the dissertation, students may undertake an internship with an organization or
consulting firm to broaden their applied training.
