New Cognitive Science Concentration The Tennessee Board of Regents has approved the department's proposal for a Cognitive
Science concentration for the Bachelor of Arts degree. The primary objective of the
concentration is to supply undergraduate students interested in the cognitive area
with interdisciplinary training to meet the growing demand for cognitive scientists.

Randy Floyd Honored The Editorial Advisory Board for the School Psychology Review honored Dr. Randy Floyd
as the winner of the 2008 Editorial Appreciation Award at the convention of the National
Association of School Psychologists held in Boston in February.

$2M Grant to Fund Autism Research For the next five years Drs. Charles Blaha and Guy Mittleman, both professors in Behavioral
Neuroscience, will investigate a disconnection hypothesis that pathology of the cerebellum
results in abnormal dopamine release in the cortex that underlies some of the core
symptoms of autism.
