Meisinger Selected as Early Career Scholar

Dr. Beth Meisinger, assistant professor, has been selected to participate in the 2009 School Psychology Research Collaboration Conference (SPRCC) as an Early Career Scholar.

The Society for the Study of School Psychology sponsors SPRCC for the purpose of enhancing the research efforts and skills of early career researchers who conduct psychological research relevant to education. Meisinger said, "Attending this conference will give me an opportunity to meet other junior faculty as well as seasoned veterans in school psychology."

Participants were selected on the basis of their potential as a researcher. In her application Meisinger submitted information about her publication record, a statement of research interest and a brief research project proposal related to reading fluency, particularly how psychologists approach assessment of children's reading fluency skills and how they intervene to improve those skills.

Being selected to participate in the conference makes Meisinger eligible to submit a grant proposal to SPRCC later this year.

The conference will be held in Toronto in August.
