National Science Foundation Grant Awarded

Drs. Rick Dale, assistant professor, Roger Kreuz, professor, Andrew Olney, assistant professor and IIS associate director, and Deborah Tollefsen, associate professor and chair of the Department of Philosophy have received a $673,079 grant from National Science Foundation titled "Conditions Guiding Coordinative and Adaptive Dynamics in Human Interaction."

They will explore language experiments to identify when and where human beings coordinate or adapt to each other. This research will combine knowledge from psychology, computer science, and philosophy to contribute to our understanding of how two people communicate and, in a sense, become one system.

The grant period is September 2008 until September 2011.
