Look Up Classes: Interpreting Results
set cell vertical height

Use this table to interpret the results of your Look Up Classes search:

Select This a selection field, not an information field. If you find an open section you want, click in the box by its CRN. Then, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the [Register] button. You will be taken to the Add and Drop screen and be told the status of your registration.
CRN Course Record Number. This is the distinct course identifier you enter on the Add or Drop screen to register for a class.
Subj Subject.
Crse Course number.
Sec Section number.
Cmp Campus. Where the course is offered. 11M = the Main U of M campus. To interpret the other codes, refer to the 3-digit codes used in the Campus field on the Look Up Classes selection screen.
Cred Credit hours.
Title Course title.
Days

The day(s) the class meets.

M=Monday, T=Tuesday, W=Wednesday, R=Thursday, F=Friday, S=Saturday, U=Sunday

These codes are often used in combination. For example, TR means the course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays; MWF means the course meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Time Class starting and ending times.
Cap Capacity. The maximum number seats (students allowed to register) in the particular section.
Act Actual. The actual number of seats currently filled in the section.
Rem Remaining. The number of seats still available in the section.
XL Cap Cross-listed Capacity. This will be 0 for most sections. "XL" headings pertain to a course/section that is linked to another course/section (for example, a 4000/6000 course--one offered on both the graduate and undergraduate level). "XL" columns provide figures for the combined enrollment and availability.
XL Act Cross-listed Actual. The actual number of seats currently filled. 0 for most sections.
XL Rem Cross-listed Remaining. The number of seats still available. 0 for most sections.
Instructor Instructor name(s).
Date Session starting and ending dates. Pay close attention to this information. The dates will tell you which Part of Term a section is being offered in. For instance, a Fall section that begins in August and ends in October is a First Half-Term course; one that begins in October and ends in December is a Second Half-Term course, and one that begins in August and ends in December is a Full Term course.
Location Building and room where the class meets.
For Main Campus building codes, refer to the Campus Map.
Attribute Special information pertaining to a particular section (for example, an additional fee might be required).
