The University of Memphis will celebrate the community’s diversity with a Multicultural
Festival Wednesday, April 14, from noon to 2 p.m. on the Student Plaza. The festival,
free and open to the public, seeks to promote cultural understanding and appreciation
through a variety of art, food, music, and dance.
Participating cultures will include Greek, Arabic, Vietnamese, Korean, Hispanic, African,
African-American, Chinese, Scottish-Irish, and Native American. Religious groups and
student organizations will participate, as well as the Confucius Institute and the

and Greek Council organizations will give step presentations.
To open the festival, the African Students Association will present a check to the
Red Cross for its Haitian Relief Fund.
In the event of rain, the festival will be held in the Rose Theatre.
The event is sponsored by the Office of Minority Affairs, the Student Government Association,
the Center for International Programs and Services, and Tiger Copy and Graphics.
