U of M English Dept. Will Host Tenn. Philological Assn. Conference Feb. 26-28

The Tennessee Philological Association will hold its 104th annual conference on the
campus of the University of Memphis. Hosted by the U of M English Department, the
group will meet Thursday-Saturday, February 26-28.
Faculty members and graduate students from universities and colleges in Tennessee
and nearby states will meet in the Panhellenic Building to hear 53 papers. The papers
will cover such topics as politics and war, the African-American experience in music,
19th and 20th century women writers and their characters, Shakespeare, the medieval
period, contemporary literature, and theory and pedagogy.
Faculty and graduate students from all departments at the University of Memphis are
welcome to attend the panel sessions, even if they are not members of the organization.
The TPA is one of the oldest statewide literature and language associations in the
United States.
