The 13th annual Mid-South Psychology Conference will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, beginning
at 8:30 a.m. in the FedEx Institute of Technology on the University of Memphis campus.
This year’s conference theme will be “Psychology’s Role in Hope and Healing.”
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Charles Blaha, professor of psychology at the University
of Memphis and visiting professor and director of the Deep Brain Stimulation Consortium
at The Mayo Clinic. He will discuss “Hope and Healing: New Neurosurgical Approaches
to Treating Neuropsychiatric Disorders” at 11:15 a.m. in The Zone of the FedEx Institute.
More than 150 undergraduate students from the Mid-South, Texas, and California will
present original research on current topics in paper and poster sessions throughout
the day. Awards for best papers and posters will be presented at 3:45 p.m.
The MSPC is co-sponsored each year by the University of Memphis, Lambuth University,
and Christian Brothers University. The conference rotates among these three campuses.
