Coach Will Share His Winning Ways with Business LeadersFor release: January 15, 2009 For press information, contact Curt Guenther, 901/678-2843 On the basketball court and off, John Calipari has proven himself to be a highly effective leader. He will share his leadership expertise with the business community during an intensive two-day seminar at the University of Memphis, “Coach Cal on Leadership: The Fogelman Leadership Conference featuring Coach John Calipari.”
The widely known, winning coach will be the lead instructor; he will be joined by some of the outstanding Executive Education faculty from the University’s Fogelman College of Business and Economics. Also as part of the program, participants will observe an actual Tiger basketball practice, along with commentary from the Tiger coaching staff about the leadership and coaching principles they apply on and off the court. The seminar will run Thursday and Friday, February 12 and 13. The deadline for registration is Thursday, February 5. The fee for this unique program is $1,495 per person. If three or more people from the same organization register for the program, each of those registrants will receive a ten percent discount. During the classroom sessions, among the topics to be covered are Cal’s own leadership principles, such as thinking big and getting others to believe it, refusing to lose, the importance of servant leadership, and “everybody loves a comeback.” Other topics will include setting goals and objectives and coaching to achieve them, implementing effective strategies, dealing with resistance to change, communicating effectively with your team, motivating and rewarding your star performers, and creating the 100 percent responsible organization.
