Online MBA Will Debut at the University of Memphis This Fall
For release: June 23, 2009 For press information, contact Dr. Gregory Boller, 901/678-3721
Beginning this fall, the University of Memphis will offer the master of business administration
degree online. The online MBA program is designed for busy professionals whose schedule
or location makes it difficult to attend classes in person at the Fogelman College
of Business & Economics.
The new, fully internationalized curriculum will utilize real-time chat, AV-enhanced
PowerPoints, podcasts, blogs, threaded discussion boards, and Wiki collaboration tools.
The program provides a strategic understanding of today’s business problems and the
latest knowledge, best practices, and tools to solve those problems.
The online MBA is a 33-credit-hour program that consists of a 30 credit-hour core
(common to all of the University’s MBA programs) plus one three-credit-hour elective.
It features two on-campus residency sessions: creativity and innovation, and leadership
and team-building. These courses are better suited to face-to-face interaction rather
than online, and they are taught over a three-day period in the week before the fall
semester.
“The Fogelman College of Business & Economics is tremendously excited to offer our
new online MBA,” said Dr. Gregory Boller, director of MBA programs. “The business
community and prospective students across the region have been eagerly awaiting our
rollout of an innovative global business-focused online MBA.”
No prerequisite courses are required for the online MBA. The deadline to apply for
the fall 2009 semester is Aug. 14. The residency courses will run Aug. 24-26.
