Internationally known designer Jennifer Garrigues will be the speaker for the University
of Memphis’ William R. Eubanks Distinguished Lecture Series in Interior Design. Her
talk will be Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in the Fogelman Executive Center, Room
136. A reception will follow. Both events are free and open to the public.
The London-born Garrigues, a former fashion model, worked for 10 years with such designers
as Jean Muir, Christian Dior, James Galanos, and Hanae Mori. The experience provided
her with a background for learning proportion and texture and for understanding the
beauty of design in all its elements. She has traveled the world studying cultures
and people.
Even while attending the New York School of Design, Garrigues was designing interiors
for clients at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City. Since opening her own business
and studio, she has designed for a diverse group of clients, including songwriter/singer
Boz Scaggs. Her studios are located in New York and in Palm Beach, Fla.
The Fogelman Executive Center is located at the corner of Central Avenue and Innovation
Drive on the U of M campus. Parking is available in the garage adjacent to the Fogelman
Center or the Central Avenue parking lot adjacent to the Holiday Inn.
