The University of Memphis will host two events this month related to off-campus housing.
The fifth annual Off-Campus Housing Information Fair will be Wednesday, March 25,
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Michael D. Rose Theatre. Admission is free, and door
prizes will be awarded.
Sponsored by Adult and Commuter Student Services (ACSS), the fair will provide students,
faculty, and staff with information about off-campus housing options and services
in the community. Fair-goers will be able to speak personally with representatives
from local housing and apartment properties and other related vendors about their
amenities, services, and specials.
On March 18, in connection with the Off-Campus Housing Information Fair, ACSS will
host a seminar, “Understanding Lease Agreements,” from 10:20 to 11:15 a.m. in Brister
Hall, Room 220 (the multipurpose room). The seminar will focus on topics such as safety
and security, tenant rights and responsibilities, lease agreements, what to look for
during a housing search, and other subjects pertaining to off-campus housing. Seminar
facilitators will be M. Michele Harris, residential development manager at Crye-Leike
Property Management, and an attorney from Memphis Area Legal Services.
Adult and Commuter Student Services provides campus and community resources and services
to non-traditional and traditional-age students who do not live in University-owned
housing.
More information about both of these events is available by phone from Joy R. Stout
or Heather Hampton at 901-678-2644 or via email at acss@memphis.edu. More information is available online at http://memphis.edu/acss/housingfair.htm
