University of Memphis Head Start Centers of Learning is Accepting Applications for
the 2010-2011 School Year

The University of Memphis Head Start Centers of Learning will be accepting applications
for the 2010-2011 school year on March 8, 9, and 10, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. at the Park Ave/South Campus Building 48 located at the corner of Park Ave and
Getwell; no appointment is needed.
The University of Memphis Head Start Centers of Learning offers a comprehensive Head
Start program for children ages three to five years of age, demonstrating best practices
for Head Start teachers, and university students preparing for careers working in
programs with young children, as well as facilitates research opportunities and models
educational leadership to the larger early childhood community. Each laboratory classroom
utilizes child-centered, active learning, research-based curriculum models in a child
responsive environment.
One classroom is located in the Barbara K. Lipman Early Childhood School and Research
Institute, 3771 Poplar Ave., room 105. The other classroom is located in the True
Light Baptist Church Heritage Place Childcare Center, 4635 Stage Road. Each classroom
serves 20 children, and participates in the USDA-Child Adult Care Food Program. We
do not provide transportation.
Head Start is a federal funded program provided at no cost to families. Certain eligibility
