Producer, director, writer, and actor Spike Lee will speak on a range of issues, including the image of black America and the politics of film and media, at the University of Memphis March 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Michael D. Rose Theatre. The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity’s “Night of Enlightenment” lecture series.

Lee, a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta and New York University’s Tisch School of Arts, has written, directed, produced, and acted in such films as She’s Gotta Have It, School Daze, Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X, Inside Man, and Miracle at St. Anna. He has worked with such award-winning actors as Denzel Washington (Inside Man, He Got Game, Malcolm X) and with Michael Jordan on Nike’s Air Jordan campaign.

The event is sponsored by the Kappa Eta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and co-sponsored by the Student Event Allocations Committee.
