The River City Writers Series at the University of Memphis will welcome Allen Wier
for two events on Monday, March 29. He will conduct an interview at 10:30 a.m. in
Patterson Hall, Room 456, and read from his work at 6 p.m. in the Panhellenic Building
Ballroom. Both events are free and open to the public.
Wier is the author of Blanco, Departing as Air, A Place for Outlaws, Things About to Disappear, Cloud of Witnesses and Tehano. He has edited Voicelust: Eight Contemporary Writers on Style and Walking on Water and Other Stories. His fiction and essays appear in such publications as The Southern Review, Five Points, Georgia Review and The New York Times.
Wier recently completed the draft of a novel, SKIN FOR SKIN, and he is completing a new volume of short stories. He has received Guggenheim and
NEA Fellowships and holds the Hodges Chair for Distinguished Teaching at the University
The River City Writers Series is sponsored by the Student Events Allocation Committee,
