Everyone has an estate, and everyone needs an estate plan. The University of Memphis
will offer a program that should provide answers to some vital questions about estate
planning. Dan Murrell, director of planned giving at the U of M, will present “Know
What You Have and Where It Will Go: Some Estate Planning Basics” at noon Wednesday,
Dec. 1, in the Ned R. McWherter Library, Room 225.
The session will focus on basic estate planning information that every adult needs.
Handouts, checklists, and examples will be available to assist in the planning process.
Discussion topics will include: developing a checklist of documents you need to have
in place; know what you own and where it is; barriers to effective estate planning;
your forgotten beneficiaries; wise charitable giving as part of your estate plan;
and what happens when you reach your life expectancy.
Admission is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Innovation Drive
garage, adjacent to the Fogelman Executive Center.
Murrell graduated from Millsaps College and earned a master’s degree from the U of
M. He has more than 13 years of development experience.
The event is presented by the University Libraries with the support of Friends of
the University Libraries.
