A one-day conference at the University of Memphis will address issues that face young
men as they move into adulthood. Set for Saturday, Nov. 20, in the University Center,
the conference will run from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
“The Man ...The Mission...The Movement” will feature speakers on such topics as the
definition of a true man, men’s responsibilities, men’s spirituality, men’s health,
and men’s relationships with women (including their mothers).
Sponsored in part by the Hooks Institute for Social Change, in conjunction with the
Office of Student Leadership and Involvement, the Office of Multi-Cultural Affairs,
and University Libraries, the conference is open to the public. Check-in will run from 9 to 9:30 a.m., session one 10:20-11:05 a.m., and session
two 11:15 a.m. to noon.
Lunch and the keynote address will run from noon to 1 p.m., followed by a “town hall”
meeting from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. Session three will run from 1:55 to 2:40 p.m., and the closing session will run from
2:50 to 3:15 p.m.
