The University of Memphis chapter of Amnesty International is sponsoring a series of discussions, film screenings, and other events to highlight Genocide Awareness Week, Oct. 27-31. Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to attend. All events are free of charge.
The calendar includes: All Week 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily, “Lessons from Rwanda,” United Nations exhibit on genocide, Administration Building Atrium, 2nd floor Monday, Oct. 27 4-7 p.m., film Ghosts of Rwanda, Panhellenic Building Ballroom Tuesday, Oct. 28 5-7 p.m., “A Problem Forgotten,” panel discussion, Brister Hall, Room 220 Wednesday, Oct. 29 4-7 p.m., film Darfur Now, Mitchell Hall Auditorium Thursday, Oct. 30 3-4:30 p.m., “Lessons from the Holocaust,” lecture by Dr. David Patterson, Panhellenic Building, Room 200 Friday, Oct. 31 3-5 p.m., “Words of Survival,” lecture by Sudan genocide survivor Caesar Lomo, and Voices of Africa singers, Mitchell Hall Auditorium More information is available by phone at 901-678-3348 or via email at: amnestyinternational@memphis.edu
