Are you interested in a career in health? The University of Memphis will host a Pre-Health
Sciences Day on Thursday, Nov. 5, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Michael D. Rose Theatre.
The event is free and open to the public.
Prospective students will have a chance to meet with admissions officials in the areas
of audiology and speech-language pathology, biomedical engineering, cytotechnology,
dental hygiene, dentistry, diagnostic medical sonography, health administration, health
informatics, medical technology, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, public
health, occupational therapy, optometry, radiological sciences, and respiratory care.
A luncheon will begin at noon. At 12:30 p.m., Gary Shorb, president and CEO of Methodist-Le
Bonheur Healthcare, will give the luncheon address, “Characteristics of the Best Providers
of Healthcare.”
An information fair will run from 1:15 to 2 p.m., followed by panel and small group
discussions from 2 to 4 p.m.
Representatives from the following schools will be on hand to answer questions about
programs and admissions requirements: Southern College of Optometry, University of
Tennessee Health Science Center, University of Arkansas College of Medicine, Lipscomb
University College of Pharmacy, Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic
Medicine, Meharry Medical College, and the University of Memphis School of Public
Health.
Reservations are required for the luncheon; the deadline for reservations is Oct. 29.
