U of M Will Host Watch Event Friday, Sept. 26, for Presidential Debate

For release: September 22, 2008
For press information, contact Gabrielle Maxey, 901/678-2843

Students, faculty, and the general public are invited to watch the first presidential debate Friday, Sept. 26, on big-screen television at the University of Memphis, beginning at 7:45 p.m. in the Michael D. Rose Theatre.

The viewing event is sponsored by the Department of Political Science and Pi Sigma Alpha honor society.

In the 2004 presidential election, 18- to 24-year-olds had the lowest voter turnout rate of all age groups, although estimates are that the 18-29-year-old demographic segment makes up just over one-fifth of the eligible voting population.

The Rose Theatre is located east of the Student Plaza and the main Administration Building.  Parking is available in the Zach Curlin garage or in the Southern Avenue parking lot.

For more information, call 901-678-3320.
