The University of Memphis Young Alumni Committee will host the third annual First
Tennessee True Blue 5k Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. on the University’s main campus.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the Alumni Association and its work to engage,
connect, and advance the University’s students, alumni, and campus community, as well
as the newly-established Young Alumni Committee Scholarship for graduate students.
Runners and walkers will enjoy a Memphis Runners Track Club-certified race course
that winds through the U of M campus. A post-race celebration will feature food, music,
and an awards ceremony.
U of M students, alumni, and all Tiger supporters are invited to participate. Racers
may register online at http://trueblue5k.racesonline.com or by calling 901-678-1333. Registration is $25 for a chip-timed race.
MRTC members, U of M Alumni Association members, students, and staff receive a $3
discount if they register by Oct. 16. An untimed fun run costs $18.
Race day registration and packet pickup will be held from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. on the
lawn between Patterson and Ellington Halls on the U of M campus. Parking will be available
in the Southern Avenue lot across from the registration area.
This year’s title sponsor is First Tennessee Bank. Other sponsors include Smoothie
King, ATC Fitness, Mahaffey Tent & Party Rentals, and Delivered magazine.
The University of Memphis Alumni Association is a non-profit organization with the
primary purpose of engaging alumni, former students, and friends in three areas: advocating
the ideals of the University, advancing its welfare, and fostering life-long relationships
with the institution.
