The National League for Nursing (NLN) will honor Dr. Lin Zhan, dean of the Loewenberg
School of Nursing at the University of Memphis, with its Outstanding Leadership in
Nursing and Education Award. The award will be presented Oct. 2 at the NLN’s annual
education summit in Las Vegas.
“The faculty and staff of Loewenberg School are extremely proud of Dr. Lin Zhan as
the recipient of theprestigious NLN Outstanding Leadership in Nursing and Education
award,” said Dr. Linda Finch, associate dean. “Dr. Zhan’s contributions to the quality
of life of older adults and ethnic minorities, health promotion for women and ethnic
minorities, and diversity in higher education are exemplars of her commitment to raising
the standards in nursing education, service and research.”
Zhan has demonstrated leadership through scholarly activities, having published more
than 90 articles and contributed to 11 books. She is a member of the National Think
Tank on Expanding Nurse Educator Diversity for the NLN, and since 2002 she has participated
in the Expert Panel on Aging for the American Academy of Nursing.
Zhan is president of the Boston Institute of Management, providing healthcare consulting
services to China. In 2007, she led the nursing education leadership and leadership
delegation to China in the People to People Ambassador Program. This experience allows
participants from the United States and China to share human, nursing, health, and
environmental knowledge.
