Dear Conference Assistant Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the Summer Conference Assistant positions available
through the Departments of Residence Life and Dining Services and of Conference Planning
and Operation. We are looking for enthusiastic students who will help make our Summer
Conference Housing program a success!
Conference Assistants are responsible for a variety of duties including welcoming
guests to The University of Memphis, checking guests in and out, responding to emergencies,
supervising desk activities, inspecting rooms to insure they are ready for conference
groups, and going "beyond the call of duty" to assist guests in any way possible.
It is a requirement of the job to live on campus; therefore, Conference Assistants
are provided with a room for the summer. Pay will be a stipend of $1,160.00 plus an
hourly rate of $7.25 for hours worked at the desk. Being a Conference Assistant will
also look great on your resume!
Please read the attached job description thoroughly. Your completed application, three (3) Reference forms and the Background Check form are due in the Residence Life Office by 04:30 p.m., on Wednesday, February 13th.
Please make sure your references are aware of this deadline. Those who may serve as
references are Resident Advisors, employers/ supervisors, former employers/ supervisors,
instructors/ professors/ teachers, former instructors/ professors/ teachers, NO FRIENDS
and NO RELATIVES.. After reviewing all the files, those who are chosen to be interviewed
will receive an INVITATION. In responding to the INVITATION, you will sign up for
an interviewing time. Interviews will be conducted between February 25th and March
If you are a returning Conference Assistant, the returning CA Questionaire and the Background Check Form are due by 4:30 pm on February 13th. You do not need reference forms or an application.
Training begins on Monday, May 13th.
