Hardwire Connections

In order to connect to ResNet, you will need an Ethernet card which has a 100BaseT cable connector (looks like an enlarged phone jack) and an RJ45 cable. The installation of your Ethernet adapter should already have been completed. If your card was not installed by the manufacturer, then you should follow the instructions that were bundled with your Ethernet adapter. ResNet support does not install Network Cards inside the computer. If you need further assistance from outside the University you can try an outside vendor.

SIMPLE SET UP:

• If you have not already done so, attach your Ethernet cable to your computer and the wall jack. This would be an orange port that looks similar to a phone jack.
• If you have a new computer with a properly working Ethernet card, TCP/IP protocol installed and configured to use DHCP, you should be able to just run your browser  and be connected to the University of Memphis Login page.
• PLUG IN MACHINE, PLUG IN CABLE, and RUN BROWSER. You will see the "SafeConnect" Network Registration Page.

FOLLOW LOGIN INSTRUCTIONS: YOU MUST HAVE YOUR UUID AND University Email PASSWORD TO CONTINUE.

You will be asked to read and accept the Policy for Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources

Wireless Connections

In order to connect to Wireless ResNet, you will need a Wireless PC/USB Card or other 802.11a/b compliant Device. The installation of your Wireless adapter should already have been completed. If your adapter was not installed by the manufacturer, then you should follow the instructions that were bundled with your device. ResNet support does not install Network Cards inside the computer. If you need further assistance from outside the University you can try an outside vendor.

SIMPLE SET UP

• If you have not already done so, turn on your computer with the Wireless adapter running.

• If you have a new computer with a properly working Wireless device, TCP/IP protocol installed and configured to use DHCP, you should be able to just run your browser [Internet Explorer, Firefox or browser of choice] and be connected to the University of Memphis Login page.

• RUN BROWSER. You will see the "SafeConnect" Network Registration Page
