How to Connect to the Internet

Hardwired Connection

In order to connect to the internet you will need an RJ45 cable.

Simple Setup:

  • If you have not already done so, attach your Ethernet cable to your computer and the wall jack. This would be an orange port that looks similar to a phone jack.
  • If you have a new computer with a properly working Ethernet card, TCP/IP protocol installed and configured to use DHCP, you should be able to just run your browser and be connected to the internet.

Wireless Connection

In order to connect to Wireless network.

Simple Setup:

  • If you have not already done so,turn on your computer with the wireless adapter running. Select the wireless network that you prefer [uofm, uofm-guest, etc].
  • If you have a new computer with a properly working Wireless device, TCP/IP protocol installed and configured to use DHCP, you should be able to just run your browser [Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or browser of choice] and be connected to the internet.
