January 2012
January 12 & 13: Respect Me, UC Atrium, 12:00 pm
- Students will informally display examples of uncivil behavior and engage other students
in conversation about civility throughout the afternoon
January 24: REcord Video Viewing, Mynders Hall, 7:00 pm
- Contestants and the campus are invited to view the Civility Campaign Video Contest
submissions, winners will be announced.
February 2012
February 8: Lunch & Learn, UC Bluff Room, 12:30 pm
- Career Services will host a lunch and learn entitled "Pants on the Ground" and Other
Issues Regarding Civility in the Workplace.
February 9: Civil or Uncivil, UC Shelby Room, 3:00 pm
- Participate in honest small group discussions about how you define civil or uncivil
behavior.
February 10: Influencing Respect and Civility in the Workplace, McWherter Library, Room 226, 1:00 to 4:00 pm
- Today, we see a wide range of behaviors that demonstrate a lack of respect and civility,
both inside and outside of the workplace. Studies and polls indicate that these behaviors
negatively impact employees and organizations. This training will focus on ways that
each of us can have a positive influence on respect in our day-to-day interactions.
It will provide information and practical tips that we can readily apply on topics
that include understanding triggers that lead to incivility, demonstrating respect
in our communications and actions, responding to and resolving conflicts, and adjusting

February 14: Love & Relationships, UC 342, 9:40 am
- Discussion about relationships and domestic violence/abuse
February 14: Black Indians: An American Story, UC Bluff Room, 1:00 pm
- A video will be shown bringing to light the cultural and racial fusion of Native and
African American followed by a discussion.
February 26 & 28: After the Buzzer: Civility and Basketball
- Women's Basketball Coach Melissa McFerrin will speak on civility among teammates and
fans of basketball in a recorded message that will be played at the last Men's and
Women's Basketball home games. Entrance to the games is free to students. Click here to view the video!
March 2012
March 15: Intramural Captains Meeting on Civility, Rec Center, 5:30 pm
- This meeting will explore issues of civility and civil behavior in intramural sports.
March 27: Asia In America Workshop, UC Bluff Room, 7:00 pm
- This workshop explores Asian cultural connections within the student body.
April 2012
April 2-6: Why Do You Hate Me? Week, Campus Wide
- A week of activities dedicated to tolerance and civility awareness; will include the
Tunnel of Oppression, Divas of Diversity speaker, and Clothesline project.
April 3: Talking about Civility, UC Theatre, 2:00 pm
- Student civility video will be shown & discussion on civil behavior will follow.
April 12 & 13: Diversity and Social Justice, UC Shelby Room, 10:00 am
- Cody Charles will conduct workshops about the vocabulary for diversity and social
justice.
