Why does civility matter?

The University of Memphis Civility Pledge exemplifies the qualities that every Memphis Tiger should strive to possess.  It states:

Because I am a Memphis Tiger, I commit to pursuing excellence in my academics, professional, and personal life.

Because I am a Memphis Tiger, I uphold high ethical standards.  I conduct myself with dignity and respect on campus, in social media, and in the global community.

Because I am a Memphis Tiger, I hold myself and others accountable to setting a higher standard of excellence.  I challenge all to take responsibility of their behaviors, attitudes, and actions.

I believe in integrity.  I believe in respect.  I believe in civility, because I am a University of Memphis Tiger.

So, as a Memphis Tiger, why does civility matter?  Express in video what civility means to you and to the world around you.
