 An Entrant may enter online by selecting the entry link at http://www.memphis.edu/respect/videoentryform.htm
and completing all mandatory elements of the Official Entry Form, including:
- creating and uploading an original video not to exceed 120 seconds to Youtube.com,
produced in English, that depicts the theme of the contest “Why does Civility Matter?”
- first and last name, street address, city, state, ZIP code, telephone number, @memphis.edu
email address, eligibility confirmation, web address to Youtube video;
- confirmation, where indicated, of your informed consent to enter and participate in
the Contest and affirmative agreement to abide and be bound by the Official Rules,
terms and conditions of the Contest, and good faith consent to continue participation
in the Contest in the event you are determined to be and accept the status of a verified
top three entrants. Further, by entering the Contest, you hereby pre-approve the University
of Memphis to post your video (as it was submitted or with edits), where the University
of Memphis sees fit, for public viewing, and if an entrant is later disqualified for
any reason, or does not comply with these Official Rules, such video can be taken
down as well and a new Finalist video posted. Once submitted, an Entry may not be
edited or resubmitted with edits.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF VIDEO AND ALL ENTRY-RELATED CONTENT: Entries must be suitable
for republication/display, as specified in these Official Rules and as interpreted
and applied by the University of Memphis in its sole and reasonable discretion. BY
SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, ENTRANT ACKNOWLEDGES THAT ANY ENTRY-RELATED CONTENT MAY BE EDITED/REPUBLISHED/DISPLAYED
IN THE SOLE DISCRETION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS. Specifically, submission of an
Entry grants the University of Memphis full title and all associated rights, including
moral rights, without limitation, restriction or reservation of any kind to edit,
adapt, republish, use, and/or publicly perform the Entry in any way, in any and all
media, without limitation, and without further consideration to the Entrant. By submitting
an Entry, Entrant agrees that the Entry is gratuitous and made without restriction,
and will not place the University of Memphis or any Contest Entities under any obligation,
and that the University of Memphis is free to disclose the contents and ideas contained
in the Entry on a non-confidential basis to anyone or otherwise use the contents or
ideas without any additional compensation to Entrant. Entrant further acknowledges
that by acceptance of the Entry, the University of Memphis does not waive any rights
to use similar or related contents or ideas previously known to the University of
Memphis, or developed by its employees or retained agents, or obtained from sources
other than Entrant. Additionally, by submitting an Entry in the Contest, Entrant hereby
warrants and represents that the Entry conforms to the requirements set forth herein.
Entries:
- cannot be sexually explicit or suggestive, unnecessarily violent or derogatory of
any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group, profane or pornographic,
contain nudity or any materially dangerous activity;
- cannot promote alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any
of the foregoing), any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous;
- cannot be obscene or offensive, endorse any form of hate or hate group; cannot defame,
misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about Contest Entities or their products,
or other people, products or companies;
- cannot contain trademarks, logos or trade dress owned by others, or advertise or promote
any brand or product of any kind including, but not limited to clothing with visible
brand names or logos, without permission, or contain any personal identification,
such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses;
- cannot contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including music, photographs,
works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media)
without permission from the author/subject (or parent/guardian in the case of minors);
- cannot contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, photographs, or other indicia
identifying any person, living or dead, without permission;
- cannot communicate messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or
goodwill to which the University of Memphis wishes to associate, in the University
of Memphis’s sole discretion;
- cannot depict actions, and cannot itself, be in violation of any law;
- cannot contain any other content that is or could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable,
or offensive, as determined by the University of Memphis or Contest entities in their
sole discretion;
- cannot have been previously licensed, published, distributed or otherwise used elsewhere;
and cannot have previously won any prizes in a promotion of any kind.
If anyone other than the Entrant appears in, or is otherwise identifiable in the video
(i.e. voice), such person(s) (or such person(s)’ parent or legal guardian, if they
are not 18+ years of age, or of the age of majority in their jurisdiction) will be
required to sign a participation release document ("Participation Release"), which
is available at the bottom of this set of Official Rules. The University of Memphis
reserves the right to request proofs of these signed Participation Release documents
at any point in time, and such documents may be required in order to be deemed a Contest
Finalist or Grand Prize Winner. Failure to provide said proof may result in disqualification
of the Entry from the Contest. Further, if an Entry includes private third party property
or places, Entrant hereby represents and warrants he/she has received express permission
from such private third party property or place owner to submit such Entry, and the
University of Memphis may request proof of such express permission in written form
at any time. Failure to provide the above referenced proofs may result in disqualification
of the Entry from the Contest. All Entries may be preliminarily (and at any time,
may subsequently) be screened for conformity with these Official Rules, including
any written verification/documentation confirming the requirements and permissions
specified herein. Entries that do not reasonably appear to fully comply with all requirements
set forth herein may be disqualified by the University of Memphis at any time. Entries
will neither be acknowledged nor returned and correspondence regarding the screening,
verification or judging status of Entries will only be undertaken by the University
of Memphis or Contest Entities at their sole discretion, except as otherwise specified
in these Official Rules. The University of Memphis reserves the right to interpret
the Contest Entry requirements, Official Rules set forth herein and any other applicable
terms and conditions relating to the Contest in its reasonable discretion.
