Career Services at the University of Memphis Can Help You Reach Your Career Goals
Career Services can equip you with the necessary tools to become a successful internship
or job search candidate. Their office is located at 400 Wilder Tower. Office hours
are Monday through Friday 8:00AM - 4:30 PM during Fall and Spring semesters. Summer
hours are 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Career Services is for all students: freshman, sophomore,
junior, senior, and graduate level. Career Services also provides counselor assistance
with resume writing, interview skills, and the search for internships and jobs. Stop

- Search for jobs, internships, and off-campus part-time jobs in the E-Recruiting database.
ERecruiting has over 500 jobs and more than 200 internship listings. This database
is updated daily, so be sure to check the site often for updates and new job postings.

- Career Services provides resources for students who are exploring careers. Whether
you are deciding on a major, looking to change your major or narrowing your career
options, Focus-2 is a great tool! Focus-2 is a software system that assesses your
interests in relationship to academic strengths, values, skills, personality and leisure.

Career Tracks – to further your academic and career preparation!
Student Disability Services (SDS) at the University of Memphis strives to prepare
students for college life and help them prepare for future careers. Career Services
and SDS have paired up to bring students programming and services that have been designed
to ready future professionals in the areas of resume building, interview preparation,
and career guidance. Career Tracks, a program for sophomores and juniors, seeks to
assist students in career planning, goal and decision making, and career development.
Academic tracking, career assessments and counseling are available to students registered
with SDS in order to help them graduate and consider disability-related issues that
may impact your career and career choices. Participation in Career Tracks includes
weekly individualized meetings with a trained SDS and Career Services staff member.

Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) [https://wrp.gov/LoginPre.do?method=login]
The WRP is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal and private sector
employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with
disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through internships
and/or jobs.
Students that participate in WRP also gain resume and interview preparation guidance,
information about disability disclosure and can compete for internships and/or jobs!
Career Mentoring Program
Student Disability Services offers a career mentoring program for students interested
in gaining more information about what it is like to work “in the real world” with
a disability. Students or job seekers who have a disability are paired with a career
mentor who also has a disability, in order to learn about what it means to work in
a wide variety of fields and occupations. This experience could entail job shadowing,
identifying necessary skills and could include learning about possible internships
or employment prospects. You may have questions about working “in the real world”
with your disability and it is our hope that this program offers you a chance to meet
with a seasoned professional who has a disability to discuss these important questions

An exciting tool for both employers and students. Career Gateway is the first nationwide
online job posting and college student resume database system. It is a primary tool
for employers to reach this population while students use this as a tool for identifying
employment opportunities and employers who are committed to including disability as
part of their diversity efforts. For employers, COSD Career Gateway is a vital pipeline
for their future workforce. For students, COSD Career Gateway is the closest link
with employers specifically seeking them. There is no charge for students to register
or for employers to post available jobs, internships and/or co-op opportunities.
Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) [http://www.dol.gov/odep/programs/dmd.htm]
Students with disabilities (mentees) are matched with workplace mentors according
to expressed career interests. Mentees experience a typical day on the job and learn
how to prepare to enter the world of work. Employers gain an increased awareness that
people with disabilities represent an overlooked talent pool. Disability Mentoring
Day is a program of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD).
