Gregory V. Donnenwerth is Professor of Sociology. He received his Ph.D. from the University
of Missouri in 1971. He has been Director of Research for PROJECT LIFE, a five-year
study funded by the Administration on Aging designed to evaluate the prosthetic and
iatrogenic effects of institutionalization and the impact of deinstitutionalization
on the quality of life among nursing home elderly. His more recent work has focused
on the influence of secularization and religious plausibility structures on traditional
moral beliefs.
His publications include articles in Social Forces, Sociology of Religion, Sociological Quarterly, Journal of Personality
and Social Psychology, Sociological Inquiry, Human Relations, and Social Science Quarterly. He has served as an Associate Editor for Sociological Quarterly and the Journal of Applied Sociology and as a reviewer for several other national professional journals. At the community
level he has been a research consultant to Federal Express Corporation, Veterans Administration
Medical Center, and Senior Citizens Services, Inc. He has also been active in Alpha
Kappa Delta (International Sociology Honor Society) at both the local and national
levels.
Dr. Donnenwerth teaches courses in Methods of Research and the Sociology of Poverty.
