Rebecca F. Guy is Professor of Sociology. She received her Ph.D. from Oklahoma State
University in 1971. Her primary research interests include race and gender inequalities,
early language development, and methodological issues in the social sciences. Her
articles on these topics and others have appeared in journals such as Social Forces, Social Science Quarterly, International Journal of Aging and Human
Development, Sociometry (now Social Psychology Quarterly), and Journal of Psycholinguistic Research.
Dr. Guy has also published a number of texts in the areas of social psychology, research
methodology, and statistics. She has won several teaching awards including the Distinguished
Teaching Award (University of Memphis) and the Russell Smith Excellence in Teaching
Award (University of Memphis).
Dr. Guy teaches courses in Gender and Quantitative Methods.
