Admission to the MHA program is based on selection from a pool of applicants who meet the minimum undergraduate GPA and aptitude examination scores. All applicants are required to submit scores for the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), unless waived by the University of Memphis Graduate School and the MHA faculty. Following interviews of qualified applicants with MHA faculty members, recommendation for admission will be made by the MHA Admissions Committee. A student may be required to complete undergraduate coursework prior to admission; graduate credit is not allowed for courses needed to fulfill these requirements.

Consideration is given to the following in determining admissions to the MHA program:

  • Undergraduate grade point average (GPA) on a four-point scale from an accredited college or university
  • GRE or GMAT percentiles (verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing); GRE preferred
  • Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a former professor)
  • Applicant's written statement (400-500 words) of interests and career goals
  • Resume including education and experience

Application Deadline

The MHA program may, at its discretion, review applications received before and until June 1 of each admissions cycle. However, admission to the Memphis MHA program is increasingly competitive each year. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to help assure their application is reviewed in a timely manner.
